The Twinkle In My Eye

i gave birth to an idea today

its heart was blue

its eyes were grey.

i thought i heard a moan

but it was more of a keening wale.

the dragon inside me speaks true

the tales i cannot tell.

one day they'll see my other side.

not a woman who is smart

or strong or filled with pride,

but the beast in me

with a dragons heart.

wings that spread and take to flight,

eyes that pierce the darkest night.

a roar to make my will be known,

and an endless light

that no man owns.

I'll Put It Here Till I Know Where It Goes

I need a place for me,

where I can be free.

A spot to place my deepest fears.

My thoughts, dreams, hopes and tears.

If I can get them out of this cage I live,

Maybe to someone some hope I can give.

I may not share it, or tell a soul.

But its in me now and getting old.

I want to have a future to see,

When I look in his eyes, 

And when he looks at me.

I know not where I'm going,

Or who is riding with me.

But this journey has set me rolling,

A warrior I shall be.

Peaceful, fierce, with an incredible lightness of being.
